Who we are
I’m Ed Wolfe. I love building things.
I started building and making things in high school with my dad’s tools. Summer work doing carpentry and woodworking was fueled by some incredible deals on equipment, and through college I had quite a handsome wood shop running in my parents’ Connecticut garage.
At the University of Maine I studied Construction Management and Business, and started working with Main Eco Homes in Western Maine. As a project manager for Main Eco Homes, I learned how to push the ball along building multiple houses at once (clear and abundant communication is the key). I picked up the details of building energy efficient homes, and pushed that envelope as far as I could.
During my Main Eco Homes days, I trained and became certified in the construction and detailing of Passive Houses. I haven’t had the opportunity to build one (yet), but the quality standards and the focus on building comfort have stuck with me into every project I touch, large or small.
I moved to Portland when I fell in love with my fiancé, and found work with Knickerbocker Group. As a project manager with that team, I plied my trade on some of the most demanding and architectural projects the area has to offer.
All along my building journey, I’ve been lucky to work with incredible craftspeople in every trade possible, working together to solve all manner of unique problems. I’m excited any time I get to call these folks up and tackle a new problem together.
I started out on my own as Ed Wolfe Builder in the spring of 2025. While the team is small (It’s just me, just the one Builder) for now, I look forward to continuing to solve problems, continuing to build well-crafted furniture, small projects, and homes, and continuing to communicate and spread the joy that is building things.
